The MagicGlance apps are built to keep your data on your Mac. There are no accounts, no analytics, no ads and no tracking.

MagicGlance, MagicGlance Mouse, Keyboard and Trackpad

These four apps work the same way; this section covers all of them.

Battery information

The app reads what macOS already makes available about the Magic devices connected to your Mac: their name, type, battery level, charging state and serial number (to tell one device from another). It doesn't use Bluetooth itself and asks for no permissions.

What stays on your Mac

Your settings, how fast each device's battery drains and when it was last fully charged are stored on your Mac. They are never sent to us or anyone else.

Alerts

The alerts you turn on, such as low battery, are shown by the app itself. It doesn't use the notification system.

Update checks

The app asks the App Store whether a newer version is available, using only the app's identifier. No personal information is included.

Debug information

In About & Help you can save a debug information file (the app and macOS versions, your devices and their state) to attach to a support request. It stays on your Mac unless you choose to send it.

MagicGlance Audio

Bluetooth

MagicGlance Audio asks for Bluetooth access to read the battery level that connected headphones and headsets report to your Mac. It reads only the name, type, Bluetooth address (to tell devices apart) and battery level of devices that are already paired and connected. It doesn't scan for, pair with or connect to devices, and it has no access to audio.

You can turn the access off at any time in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Bluetooth; the app then can't show the battery.

What stays on your Mac

Your settings and the latest battery readings are stored on your Mac, in the app's own sandbox. They are never sent to us or anyone else.

Alerts and updates

Low battery alerts are shown by the app itself, without the notification system. Like the other apps, it asks the App Store whether a newer version is available, using only the app's identifier.
